Rainbows and Tweed Coats

I dropped by a thrift clothing store after work: crumpled-up shirts and dusty boots hang on improvised clothes bars like dead meat, reeking of ten thousand different people smells.

Right away, I thought of the Jewish Holocaust Museum with concentration camp prisoners’ valuables piled up in one deplorable mess. I thought: Where are the owners of these clothes? Do they bathe as often as they should? Have they died and their clothes — these clothes — were shipped away on a charity boat by their grieved relations in hopes of moving on minus their remembrance?

I bought a black sweater with a rainbow painted on. I thought: Had this girl — the first to wear this sweater — grown up and traded rainbows for tweed coats?

Now for the out-of-the-blue portion of this thread:

I am in love with Cecile Van Straten because apart from the fact that we both scorn ugly bathrooms, I have loved her since her I Love You store days.

From Cecile Van Straten’s blog, I found this link to Patricia Evangelista‘s November 7 Inquirer [political] article ‘Jesus in Yellow’. Please read it for enlightenment.
