A Train Window Picture Show

My boredom poem (composed out of a boredom-ridden train ride home) bagged the second prize in the National Book Development Board’s national poetry competition Tulaan sa Tren 2. The winners were selected by National Artist for Literature Bienvenido Lumbera and Gemino Abad, Italy’s Premio Feronia recipient.

Didn’t Mr. Lumbera think I was good enough of a writer to be admitted to the University of the Philippines’ Creative Writing Institute?

The Awarding Ceremonies shall be held January of 2010. After which my best friend for perpetuity Hitesh and I shall have wasabi popcorn over Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland.

A Train Window Picture Show

A train window picture show: the sunset yielding itself to
the blue-black backdrop of 6pm;
a shadow puppet show of birds in flight;
a rainbow field of umbrellas;
strangers elbow to elbow under the rain.

A good friend, Jam Regis and company, shall be staging  Unencumbered Words, a multimedia exhibit at the Gallery Big of LRI  Plaza in Bel-Air. The show will run from December 16 to 18, 2009.

I am expecting good artworks, non-alcoholic beverages and a platter of cold and palatable hor de oeuvres. Whopee!
