Green, how I want you green. Green wind. Green branches.

Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) under Chairman Oscar Inocentes has stripped itself of its candy-pink and cotton-candy-blue garb for the more appropriate green.
Flashback to a couple of years back when MMDA peppered Metropolis Manila with carousel-rose colored foot bridges and chicken-wire fences (to ward off serial jay-walkers) and candy pink and baby blue street urinals. Eeek.

Under the MMDA Metro-Guwapo project (a project aimed to beautify the city’s blighted areas) decrepit buildings and homes were painted screaming peeenk.

Tacky.
To a few presumptuous people, don’t get me wrong. I think the world of former MMDA Chair Bayani Fernando. And I pray with passionate piety that he bags the vice-presidential seat.
I still curb a laughter when I recall what Alexis Tioseco wrote on his Wishful Thinking for Philippine Cinema thread: I wish the MMDA didn’t call those circles and boxes ‘Art’.
Alexis was referring to random shapes painted in a supposedly artistic form to conceal the impassioned leftist sentiment grafitti sprayed on city walls.
Oh wow. Change is visible in the horizon. With the upcoming senatorial, congressional and presidential elections, I hope for more reforms in the health and labor sector. The MMDA Green, I pray, is just a kickass prelude to more visible political transition.
Anyway, here’s my ten cents on the Philippine Presidential race:
Kindly go here to support the Gordon-Bayani presidential campaign 🙂
[The line ‘Green, how I want you green. Green wind. Green branches.’ is taken from the poem ‘Romance Sonambulo‘ by poet Federico Garcia Lorca.]
